Sad Sign Of The Times

I got a link to this article in an e-mail from my brother. The subject line read: Oh Not My Daughter. At first glance I thought it would be a picture of some teenage girl with a ton of tattoo's and piercings. Unfortunately it was worse than that. It was a link to an article on the CBS 13 Sacramento Web Site. As I clicked on the link I was shocked at what the title of the article read "Sac State Grad Selling Her Virginity For Tuition". Shocked is actually putting mildly how my reaction was, maybe appalled would be a better word. As I read the article it got worse and worse. In a nut shell this young woman wants to sell her virginity to pay for her grad school without having to work. She blames her step-father who took student loans out in her name and ran. She feels that she is left with no choice (LAME). Apparently bidding is up to $250,000 so far. Because E-bay would not allow her to do this online (thank you e-bay), she is going through 'The Bunny Ranch' in Carson, NV. The owner of the ranch said, "Natalie is a very smart girl. All she wants to do is get her master's degree in family and marriage counseling and be a psychologist. She's selling her virginity to accomplish that," Hof told CBS13. "She's smart enough to sell it. This is empowering her." Seriously, there are so many things wrong with that sentence. I just think that this is so sad. What on earth would put this idea into a young womans head. Even more, what on earth would make someone spend $250,000 on something so special and sacred. I just can't believe what the world is coming to. I am curious what everyone else thinks. Here is a link to the article...http://cbs13.com/local/selling.virginity.tuition.2.814271.html

Do you realize that this girl graduated with a degree in Women's studies of all things! Wow she must have slept through most of that 4 years because otherwise she would realize how long it has taken women to get paid for everything other than being on their backs!! UGH!

Disgusting! I love how she plans to be a marriage counselor and psychologist! That's so bloody ironic!

Yes, this repulses me also! It makes me angry that another girl would represent herself/other girls this way, and it makes me sick that a man would stoop this low to buy it!! I don't know which is worse!!!? I can't even believe the crazy temptations that my little babies are going to be growing up amidst. It makes me soooo angry!

I'm glad you posted this, I was goign to, but I was too angry about it. She actually thinks it's empowering! WHAT!?? Talk about out of touch! What kind of doctor does she thinks she is going to be for other people? Has she ever heard of an ethical clause?? She wants to open her own private practice too. She said the gal that got $1.5 million for her virginity was so smart.
Yeah, boo hoo, big baby, work like the rest of us and don't blame your step-father for YOU selling yourself. She's a high priced hooker and she's in our own backyard. So sad.

I just happened by your blog and want to wish you the best of luck with our upcoming birth. But I also was compelled to reply about this after reading the other comments. First, I agree, it would be interesting to see what would happen in the future when an employer checks her references. However, in that field, that might come up as a kudo. But for a spin (I'm always doing that!) what does this say about the men who are bidding? I enjoyed your blog and again, good luck!
