God Bless The U.S.A.

I woke up this morning when David's alarm went off at 5:00. At first it was a normal day when we hit snooze. Then his snooze went off and I realized what day it is. My mind immediately went back 7 years ago to that awful life changing morning. My alarm went off like a normal day and I hit snooze. Then my snooze went off and there was this horrified voice on the radio saying something awful had happened. I actually hit snooze again hoping that it was a dream, and then snooze went off again and that voice became inconsolable by her co-host. I immediately turned on the TV to the news and saw the most awful site. It took a minute to register that it was really happening. Not yet understanding the magnitude of what was going on I knew that our Country would never be the same again. I was paralized by what I saw on TV for almost 30 minutes. I couldn't take my eyes off of what was happening. I finally gathered myself and got ready for work. I was working for Dr. Charles Dental Office at the time. When I got to work it was the most solemn feeling as I walked in. Every TV was on in every operatory. Everyone in the office, both staff and patient, was quiet just watching the television. It was one of the worst days I can remember. I kept thinking to myself, "these things don't happen now. These things happened back when my parents were kids. I only hear about these things in History class." And then it really registered, "Oh my gosh, this is history. This is what my kids will learn about in their history classes. I am living history and it is changing the world forever."
How grateful I am for the many wonderful and amazing women who, without want for recognition, offered their lives to save the lives of those in danger. All of these men and women who still today fight valiantly for us to live a life where we don't worry about things as most country's do. Every day I am grateful for these men and women, but especially on this day I remember them because it is not history for me, it will always be the present because our lives will not be the same as they were.
I have always felt that music is an amazing way to express your feelings. The most consoling thing to me during this time was all of the wonderful songs that were written about this awful event, as well as the old ones that took on a new meaning for me. So I thought that I would share some of these awesome songs that had, and still have, an affect on me when I hear them. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do. (pause the media player at the bottom so it does not interfere with the songs.) I pray that today, and every day, we remember in our prayers the men and women who are serving our country, and the men and women who fought valiantly serving out country and lost their lives. I pray that we also remember their families and the sacrifices they are making as well. I pray that we also remember our missionaries who are out fighting the most important war we can fight right now. I pray that the missionaries will be safe and protected, and that they will be led to those that are ready to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray that people's hears will be softened to accept the gospel. And I pray that as they accept the gospel it will give them comfort in times of need, especially in the scary times that we have ahead of us as a country. I am grateful for the gospel in my life, and the comfort that it gives me. I know that all things happen for a reason, whether good or bad. I know that the Lord's hand is in everything. We can't control what the world does, we can only control what we do and the influence that we want to have on the world as individuals. I love you all and pray that you all remain safe always.
