For the most part, the fact that we don’t have central A/C isn’t so bad. But then we have days like today where it is BRUTAL! The weather was supposed to reach 100* today… it exceeded that and hit 102*. Yes, remember that I said we don’t have A/C, like many people in Oregon. We usually only have a few days like this a year, but when they hit they are tough. So, with David travelling so much lately we decided to take advantage of the GREAT reason to get out of the house. We planned on taking the kids to the Science Factory in Eugene, but we needed to wait for Bailey to get at least one good nap in, and the place closed at 4:00. So that was out. Instead, we decided to head up to Wilsonville and spend some time at Bullwinkle’s Family Fun Center. We had so much fun. We definitely felt the heat bearing down on us, but just watching Tucker have so much fun, made it worth it. David and Tucker did the bumper boats. Tucker had so much fun, and loved getting wet, but enjoyed even more that he and Daddy were able to squirt other people. I was glad that David volunteered to do the bumper boats because that meant I got to do the race cars.
Tucker loved squirting others, but was a little thrown off by others squirting him
Of course, the first chance they got they had to find me on the side lines and get a little squirt in on me.
Daddy and Tucker got so wet. But since it was 102* outside, it didn’t bother them that much.
Tucker and I got all buckled up and made our way around the track. I didn’t care so much about passing anyone, I had more fun taking the corners as sharp as I could because Tucker thought it was hilarious. A few times I thought he might fall out of the car, so he got a few “mother-arms” along the way.
Mommy and Bubba, revving our engines to go!
Tucker loved it when I would take the corners really tight. We haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. I’m worried he is going to want me to start driving like that regularly.
Poor Bailey was just sitting in her stroller the whole time, but she was a trooper and loved watching her big brother play.
Tucker was aching to do the mini-golf, so we started a round. I started to get really hot, and I could tell that Bailey was having a tough time because she was starting to look really lethargic. So, I opted to end my game at hole 10 and take Bailey inside where she could cool off. Once I got some nice cool ice cream in her she seemed to be doing a lot better. We played a few games inside, and just enjoyed watching Tucker take it all in.
It cracked us up that Tucker would do the initial hit on his ball, and then he would pick it up and put it a few inches from the hole so it was easier to hit it in.
Tucker’s “I did it” dance!
This was a roller coaster type ride that we thought Tucker would enjoy… He was pretty bored by the whole thing.
We ended our day with slurpees from 7-11 (the perfect cure to a hot day), and then we went and soaked up the AC at David’s parents house. Since David’s parents weren’t home, we let the kids play a bit and then made some dinner. We wanted to make sure that they came home to a cleaner kitchen than when they had left so we did a little bit of light cleaning. As we were doing it I felt like we were trying to eliminate the evidence of some sort.
Mmmmmm, Slurpee!
We can’t leave out our beautiful little Bailey bug. She absolutely loves this little step at Grandma and Grandpa Mize’s house.
Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home. So now David and I get to watch some of the Olympics and try to stay cool ourselves. So, we may not have AC, but we do have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies, so we can’t complain too much.
