Oh, what I would give to have the energy of a toddler. Tucker can go for hours on end with LOADS of energy. It seems as if when nap time comes around there is no way he’ll go down, but thank goodness he does. :) He is full of happy, excited, curious energy everyday and I love it.
So, I have finally got up the energy to blog about our adventures last week. David was out of town in Seattle for work last Monday – Wednesday. My sister-in-law came down Monday for a fun afternoon (see previous post). Tuesday was where the real adventure began. Tuesday, the 10th, Tucker’s bedroom went from…
Oh the story I have to tell. At naptime on Tuesday Tucker decided that he was going to do all that he could to climb out of his crib. Such a Turkey. I was worried because his foot kept slipping and I was afraid he’d hit his head on the rail. So I decided that it’s time for a big boy bed. We went to Wal-Mart and bought a toddler bed. We tried putting it together, but that’s more difficult than said when “we” includes a toddler. So, my friend Aubrey came over after work to help me. It was an adventure. I was so pissed off at this stupid bed by the time it was all put together it’s a wonder it didn’t end up through the window into the front yard. Aubrey invited us over for dinner, so that was a nice break. We came home in time for bedtime and did our routine as normal. Tucker did totally fine. He laid down like always and was very normal. About 5-seconds after I close his door, he is up and out of his room. So we go through a few different techniques. I tried putting him back into his bed a few times, I tried holding the door closed, and I tried putting a child-lock in the inside of his door as a last result. I knew that he was going to win and I couldn’t handle it when I was sitting on the couch and watched him break the child lock off of the door with one of his heavier toys and come out to set by me. I caved, I wasn’t feeling well at all so it wasn’t hard for him to win. Eventually he feel asleep so I put him into his bed around 10:45 and I went to bed myself about 11:15. I got a cute picture of Tucker in the monitor laying in his bed… kind of.
At 12:45 Tucker comes walking into my room. I still felt sick so my first thought was to let him sleep in the bed with me since David was out of town. But, I didn’t want to start that as a habit so I tried it all again. That lasted maybe 5-minutes and then I decided… FORGET IT! So I put Tucker on my bed with a movie and I put the crib back together and 1:15 in the morning. Tucker refused to go into his room still even with the toddler bed in the corner. So I put it in the guest room and we did our nighttime routine over again and he went to sleep like a champ. Slept until 9:45 the next morning. So, the end result… Tucker is NOT ready for a toddler bed. Oh well!
On a better note, we had a fun morning with Tucker’s friend Gavin on Friday. Gavin’s Mom went to get her hair done so we had Gavin over to play. I had a TON of phone calls to make that morning so I decided to have the boys watch Toy Story. But since I had just blown up Tucker’s Hippo Pool I thought it would be fun to sit in it. So here is how the boys watched the movie…
Tucker and his ever cheesy grin. Gavin is zoned. :) What’s a movie without Popcorn. They were both pretty zoned by this point.

Change sucks for toddlers and adults alike. Next time make sure David is home to help with the transition to the big boy bed!
Chloe is not ready for it either. I don't know if you saw my post on FB about her climbing out of her crib at naptime, but when people started saying to try a toddler bed I was like NO WAY! She is so not ready for that. And I was right. Chloe has not been climbing out of her bed since we moved to Utah. The only reason she was doing it at my parents house, was because she had furniture right next to her to climb onto! Haha. We will probably wait until she is 2 to get her into a toddler bed, but every toddler and child is different. Good luck! Tuckers toddler bed position is hilarious though!
You're such a good Mom!!!! Love you.
Those pictures of the movie in the hippo are adorable!
