I am feeling pretty lazy today. Actually… just flat out exhausted! So, here goes… (by the way, most of these pictures I just got off the internet… in case you couldn’t tell)
We got a babysitter for Tucker… (This picture was taken last year on 4/17, the first time Payton babysat. She is AMAZING!)David and I had a wonderful date which consisted of…
Enchilada Suisa
Walking around downtown Salem
It was a great evening with just the two of us. David and I haven’t gone out just the two of us in a long time. We were always using our babysitter nights when we went out with friends. So it was great to have some time together.
Then there was Saturday. Which started out normal.
After I ran my errands we came home and…
Then we all got up and got ready to go. At 5:40 I headed out to the car with Tucker to put him in while David finished getting ready. When we got to the car we saw…
One of these cops turned to me and the conversation went like this…
Cop –“Did you know that we are evacuating"?”
Cop - “There’s a shooter in the building over there.”
Me - “Holy Crap! We’re leaving right now.”
I ran inside and told David that we have to leave NOW because there is a shooter. We both freaked out, ran to the car, threw Tucker in and… headed to the baptism. It was so CRAZY! After the baptism it was 8:00 and we were hoping that it was over, but it was not. So we headed over to our friends house to order some Pizza for dinner. Much to our dismay come 10:30, there was still no progress in the situation. So, even though our friends were more than willing to let us stay at their house, we decided that it would be better to just get a hotel room in case Tucker didn’t do well. So, we ended up here Saturday night…
Just as we got Tucker all settled in and we laid down for bed, we turned on the news. It was about 11:25 when we heard them say the stand-off was over and people could return home. Well, we weren’t about to wake up Tucker so we stayed. I was PISSED come 2:00 in the morning when our Hotel Neighbors got in from wherever they were and were SO loud. Lucky for their own lives they didn’t wake up Tucker, but they did keep me up. Grrrrr! Once they finally settle down around 4:00, I was able to get some sleep until about 6:45 when Tucker woke up. So, after about 4-hours of sleep, total that night, Tucker and I went down for breakfast around 7:30. I was determined to take advantage of the free breakfast. Once we got back home we put Tucker down for a nap and then David and I both slept until 11:30. As tired as we were, we still went to church (the 2nd two hours), and then David’s Sister and Brother-in-law came down for dinner with their boys and we had SO much fun with them. Last night Tucker went down at 7:50, and then I went down at 8:00. We all slept like a ROCK last night.
If you want to know the details of the stand-off here’s a good article…

Wow!! What a crazy weekend!! I enjoyed the pictures of Salem. It reminded me of good times searching for interpreting clothes with my interpreting buddies. The stand-off sounds crazy though.
