Injuries, Beaches and Getaways (and TONS of pictures)

Wow, last week turned out to be quite the week for us. Here’s a breakdown of what happened.

Last Tuesday Tucker and I went to the gym so I could go to my Zumba class and Tucker could play with  all of the kids. After my class ended I was standing outside the childcare door when one of the ladies came out and said, “Jenn, we need you.” I dropped everything and ran in there because her face told me it was serious. I found Tucker in the bathroom with my friend Elena (she works there, thank goodness he had someone familiar). She was wiping blood from his mouth and he was crying so hard. I quickly took him and he buried his head into my shoulder. I felt so bad for him I didn’t even care that he was getting blood on me. When I calmed him down enough I looked in his mouth and it looked like all of the blood was coming from his gums. That freaked me out, so I put him in the car and went right over to our friend’s house who is a pediatric dentist. He checked Tucker and told me that his maxillary frenum got split and that was the cause of the blood, but his teeth look fine. I was SO relieved. For those of you who don’t know what the maxillary frenum is, it’s the piece of tissue that connects your top lip to your gums. What had happened was another little boy kicked a ball and it ricocheted off the wall and hit Tucker in the face. The little boy felt so bad, a few days later when Tucker and I were there in the morning we were given a little note that he left for us to make sure Tucker was feeling better. It was SO cute! :)

So, even though we started the week on a rough note, we ended it fabulously! The weather was abnormally BEAUTIFUL this weekend starting on Thursday.

Thursday afternoon our friends Kristi and Gavin came over so we could play with bubbles, and we wound up going for a walk as well. Tucker and Gavin play so well together it is too cute! Here are a few pictures from the afternoon… (there’s a LOT more after the pictures so sroll all the way down)

This is just a cute picture! :)Week of 02-15-10 (2)

Kristi was watching her friend Justen’s dog. The boys thought he was the GREATEST! :)     Week of 02-15-10 (17)   Week of 02-15-10 (21) Week of 02-15-10 (22)  Week of 02-15-10 (6) Week of 02-15-10 (7)  Week of 02-15-10 (9) Week of 02-15-10 (11)

On Friday, when Tucker and I got home from the gym I called David to ask him and question. He surprised me by telling me that he is getting off work at 12:00 and he’s going to take Tucker and I to the beach since the weather is so beautiful. We had the best time. The weather was truly gorgeous! We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. We spent about an hour on the beach  playing in the sand and running from the water. When we were done at the beach we drove down the coast into Newport and stopped for dinner at our Coast restaurant, Georgie’s Beachside Grill. Oh, that place is so good. David loves Clam Chowder and every time we’ve gone to the coast we’ve eaten there. So it was fun to take Tucker this time. Then we drove home through Corvallis and had the best time spending time together as a family. :) I think David’s favorite part of the trip was the fact that Tucker let us bury him up to his armpits in the sand. Here are some fun pictures of it… (still more after the pictures so keep scrolling)

To end the weekend David and I spent some time alone. David’s sister, Angie, was kind enough to watch Tucker overnight for us on Saturday night. This was the first time I had EVER been away from Tucker overnight. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, but I missed him like crazy. David and I stayed downtown in Portland at the Hotel50. It was so nice to be able to spend time together. After we dropped Tucker off we did some shopping in Jantzen Beach and grabbed a bite for lunch. Then we went to OMSI and watched an Omnimax movie called “Deep Blue”. It was good. Then after we checked into our hotel we walked around Pioneer Square and since it was late we just grabbed a bite at the food court in there. That evening we just relaxed and enjoyed the time we had to talk and hang out. Sunday morning we woke up and lounged around in robes all morning until it was time to check out. We walked around Chinatown for awhile and found a delicious Chinese restaurant for lunch. We did a little more shopping and then headed out to get Tucker. The only downfall of the weekend was that Tucker woke up at about 1:00 in the morning with a fever of 101. Angie and Ryan were so amazing though and took such good care of him. I felt so bad that he got a fever, but was grateful that he was with people who cared for him. :) In true form I didn’t really take any pictures because we didn’t have Tucker. So, nothing to see here!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

I'm so glad it was only the frenum and that Tucker is okay. :) How fun to go to the beach. We had some nice weather here on Tuesday too, but we only went to the park.
