Nashville... in Pictures

We took a family trip to Nashville recently to get an idea for the area and to make sure that it was going to be a good fit for our family. :) I made sure to take lots of pictures because let's be honest, it's more fun that way.

We were a little worried about the flights because we knew they were going to be long. We were incredibly pleasantly surprised. Both Tucker and Bailey were amazingly good. Really no crying and they were happy the whole time. Even during the landings when ears tend to hurt. David and I felt so fortunate. It doesn't hurt that we took very measure possible to make sure that they were entertained. Ha ha ha

We got in really late on Friday night so we egg grabbed a bite at Sonic and then headed to our hotel. The kids were so excited to stay in a hotel. It turned out that every trip up and down the elevator was a race between Tucker and Bailey for who gets to push the outside button and who gets to push the inside button. They were so funny. They slept amazingly well though, especially seeing as they shared a pullout bed. They were pretty darn excited.

Saturday was our first full day there. We started with breakfast at the hotel restaurant. They have some delicious food. However, Bailey felt like it was necessary to bring her JFO Unicorn down to breakfast and she kept dropping it on the floor. At one point she had dropped it and we had not noticed yet. Before we had even realized it, one of the servers walked by and he casually picks it up and senate it down next to David and says, "You dropped your pony sir." Then walks away with a big smile on his face. It was hilarious and the best part of that meal for sure. Hahaha

After our breakfast fun we decided to take a trip to the zoo. Nashville has a great zoo. One of the best exhibits was the Kangaroo House. It was an enclosed area that you can go into and walk around while the Kangaroos just do their thing around you. It was so cool. It was definitely worth the trip to go, even in the hot sun.

After the zoo we had a truly southern lunch.... Taco Bell. Ha ha ha The kids wanted it, so we obliged. :) After lunch both kids fell asleep so we took the opportunity to drive around Brentwood and really get a feel for the area. It is a gorgeous place. The homes are all beautiful and the neighborhoods are all so well kept up. And all of he roads there are amazingly beautiful. Covered in trees and surrounded by beautiful green landscape.
Saturday evening we went and had dinner with friends of mine from Sacramento. What are the odds that I would know 2 different people in Nashville, TN that I pretty much grew up with. Ha ha ha We went over to Heather (DeGraff) Menloves house for dinner, and we met up there with Devon Nicholson and his family. Heather was in my stake growing up and I saw her all of the time at church things and everything else. Bryan has been best friends with Devon for years, so he has been pretty much a brother to me. It was so fun to catch up with them all. Like idiots, we didn't get a picture of everyone. But I did get a picture of eh Heather and I to send to Monica since we wished she was there. :)

Sunday we went to church at one of the wards in the ares that we were looking in. It was a great ward and I wouldn't be heart broken if we two wound up living in those boundaries.
After we church we drove around the town just south of Brentwood, called Franklin. It is just as pretty as Brentwood. I wouldn't mind living there either. We had to find a place for lunch, and after much back and forth looking for a sushi place, we wound up at Cracker Barrell. Ha ha ha It was SO delicious. I never knew that there was an actually Cracker Barrell restaurant, and now that I know there is one, I will definitely be going back again. After lunch we went and changed our clothes and headed to walk around a local lake called Radnor Lake. It was beautiful! We saw a family of deer looking for food and a ton of birds. The kids loved the scenery but they weren't to keen on the 3 mile walk. But in the end we all survived. As a reward, we found a sushi place and we all enjoyed some sushi. And yes, all of us. The kids actually really like sushi. Ha ha ha And then, the ultimate reward was the Baskin Robbins ice cream after dinner. This trip was most definitely NOT on the diet. :)

Monday we decided to hit up the Science Museum in Nashville. It is so cool. There was so much to do there, that we will have to go back again just to really see the rest of it.

After we played there for a bit we went to check out David's new office and go to dinner with his new boss, once the transition happens. His new boss, Ryan, also took us out to lunch. We got exactly what I had really been wanting. Yummy southern BBQ joint. It was SO good. I will be making my way back to Judge Beans again for sure.

After lunch we decided to head downtown. We started at The Parthenon. It's an exact replica that was made for the worlds fair many years ago. It was so cool. Unfortunately, it was not open on Mondays. So ewe got to just walk around the outside of it. But the kids liked it. We also found a very cool playground on the back side of it, that also had a snow cone vendor. So it was perfect.
Once we were done at the park we were going to go walk around downtown, but I just didn't have it in me anymore. I was so tired and all the kids really wanted to do was go swimming in the pool at the hotel. So we decided to do that instead. Of course, we had to at least drive through downtown and that was fun. I can't wait to go back in July with David is wine we can find a place to live and we can experience more of downtown. Our last dinner in TN we enjoyed at a little place near David's office. The food was really good. Since it was so beautiful outside we decided to sit on the patio. We learned the hard way that TN doesn't have the 10' smoking law like WA. Fortunately, the wind was in our favor and we didn't get the smoke in our faces.
Tuesday morning we got all packed up and headed out. We had plenty of time before our flight left so we checked out another local park. I LOVE this park because all of the toys seemed really well built and sturdy, AND there was a fence around the whole thing with only one way in or out. Best. Thing  ever!
Once we got to the airport and through security we decided to get some lunch. We ate at Tootsies, and I got my first case of live music. It was awesome. The best way to end our trip. :)

And, we were just as lucky with our amazing kids traveling on the way home as we were on the way out there. The weather was perfect while we we refer there, and everything went better than we could have expected. It was a great trip. Now, we just wait until we have a close date so David and I can take our trip out to find a house to buy. I can't wait for all of these exciting changes. :) Now I just need to find a way to take all of my friends out there with me. :)
