Tucker Update

These last few months I have had a number of “Mom” moments. The moments I am referring to are when I can remember the same thing happening to my Mom. Case in point…

This morning at 5:45 I woke up very suddenly and startled because I thought I heard a yell. I listened for a minute and hear nothing. As I started to settle back down, I heard Tucker starting crying out for Mommy. I leaped out of bed as if I were Super Man and I was going to save my baby from whatever it was that was wrong. Mind you, he has never stayed in his bed and cried out for Mommy. Usually he just gets up and comes to get me, or he is still half asleep and he’s crying from a bad dream. Well, this morning I go in and he had thrown up on his bed. Poor little guy. So I called for David and I as I cleaned up his bed, David gave Tucker a bath. Then he got to snuggle with Daddy while I got Bailey a bottle and took care of her. So, I have been up since 5:45 this morning, and have had a very short (maybe 10 minute) nap. Tucker, however, fell asleep on my bed about 12:45, and he still asleep as I type this. I laid with him for awhile, and he was sleeping just fun, but a little bit ago he started moaning a little in his sleep. He doesn’t have a fever, but I know he just doesn’t feel well. My baby boy, I hate it when he is sick. Here’s a cute little picture of him sleeping…

Tucker Sick - 12-13-11 Of course lightning is never too far from this kid. Speaking of Lightning, we got Tucker an RC Lightning and Mater for Christmas. Well, the other night David and I decided that we need to open them up and make sure they work and are fun. So, we raced each other around the house with our cars at 11:30 at night. It was so fun, and Tucker is going to LOVE them. Aside from being able to play with them, I am so glad we opened them because they were a BEAST to get out of the box. Seriously, they were literally screwed into the box. So annoying.

Tucker is growing up to be such a good little boy. This last year has been the most growth and change that we have seen yet, I think. He is able to communicate really well now. He loves to play cars with Daddy, and always wants to cuddle with Mommy (especially when I am feeding Bailey). He loves to build things with his blocks, and then crash them all down. Lately he has gotten into the stage of “I need…”, and of course it is right around Christmas time. I have had to practice some MAJOR restraint and not buy him everything he asks for because I just want him to have it. It has been hard on me, but easy on the pocket book. A few cute things that he says that David and I get a kick out of are…

Try Again: If I offer him something that he doesn’t want, he responds in his cute little voice “No,Try Again”

Build Cookie: For some reason he thinks that anytime we bake or cook anything, it is called building. He will often say as I am getting dinner ready, “Tucker help build dinner?” I absolutely love it.

Speaking in the 3rd person: He always speaks in the 3rd person, it cracks me up.

Thank you/Please/Your Welcome: This is my time to totally brag because it warms my heart how polite he is. I like to think that comes from me teaching him to say Thank You/Please/Your Welcome. It makes me smile when people comment on how polite he is. :)

Around Halloween Tucker, with the help of Daddy, got to carve his very own pumpkin. He was SO excited. He liked digging the guts out and getting all into the decision of where Daddy should cut. We had a fun time that evening getting dirty and then enjoying our creations…

MUCH to my dismay Tucker was Thomas the Train for Halloween. It was the only thing left, and he found it. So I caved…

On November 19th, Tucker turned the big 3! To celebrate, Grandma and Grandpa Mize came down and we went to the Air and Space Museum in McMinnville. We met up with our friends, the Olsen’s, and Tucker loved having his little buddies there to run around with. I enjoyed seeing Tucker so happy and loving it, but I won’t lie… I was kind of bored off my rocker. I guess that is one of the sacrifices that comes with being a Mom. When we got home we did candles in a cupcake with Grandma and Grandpa, and then we headed to dinner at Five Guys Burger and Fries. This was our second time going to Five Guys, and without having the high expectations that I had the first time, I actually enjoyed it. For Tucker’s birthday we got him a cute little dry erase look and find card set. He has a book of it that he loves, so we thought it would be a nice quiet sacrament activity. Grandma and Grandpa got him an Imaginext Airplane with a pilot… which gift do you think he enjoyed more. :) I was glad he enjoyed it, and he actually really enjoys the gift we got him as well.

The following Wednesday, ALL of David’s family was in town, so we had them over for Pizza and more cupcakes. Tucker had SO much fun playing with his cousins and eating pizza and MORE cupcakes. Grandma also made and brought some sugar cookies for the kids to decorate. They had a total blast with that. It was an enjoyable evening for everyone. :) I made the new Betty Crocker Fun-Da-Middles cupcakes… DELICIOUS! You don’t really even need frosting with them. They were so good. The vanilla cupcakes with the vanilla filling taste just like a twinki… but better! :)

The first weekend of December Tucker had his first experience of building a gingerbread house. Well, it was actually a train…or supposed to be. We went to our friends house, the Coombs, and decorated with them. Renae and I had this great idea of building and decorating trains with graham crackers because the kids are obsessed with trains. Well, with the best of intentions I started a train for Tucker and I, and it turned into Mater… luckily. We had a blast decorating them, and the competition was fierce between David and I. :)

Last, but certainly not least, we have been working really hard on this…

P1017653Yup, potty training… AND… Tucker putting his underwear on by himself. He is doing pretty well. He doesn’t tell us when he needs to go, but he does a really good job of holding it until we ask him. However, he still does NOT poop on the toilet and that is so frustrating. But, baby steps is key. I am praying that by the end of this month we will be fully potty trained, but only time will tell. :)
