Easter in Seattle

This year for Easter my parents came out for a visit. We were so excited to have them here for Easter. Our initial plan was to host Easter at our house with my parents, and my Uncle Don, Aunt Debbie and cousins Maggie and Abbi were going to come down ad join us. Well, that all changed when David was told that he has a Spring training in Seattle starting the Monday after Easter, for that whole week. So, we thought it would be fun to do Easter weekend in Seattle. My Aunt and Uncle live in Snohomish, which is about 45-minutes from downtown, and since I had never been to downtown Seattle we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity. We also figured it would be easier for David travel wise, and his company paid for one night of our hotel, so we really couldn’t pass the opportunity up. :)

We left on Saturday morning (4/23) and got to our hotel about 1:30. We stopped and had lunch at Burgermaster in Bellevue, which is where David grew up. My parents caravanned with us, so David enjoyed showing them the house he grew up in after we had lunch. Let me tell you, if you are ever in Bellevue and want a good lunch, go to Burgermaster. Seriously… THE BEST! After lunch we headed to our hotel where we checked in and met up with Uncle Don and Maggie. Then we headed downtown. I’m not sure what I was expecting, other than for it to be really busy, which it was. However, I was pleasantly surprised to feel almost like I was in San Francisco. Very similar in a number of ways. We walked around the waterfront shops for awhile, and then met up with my Aunt Debbie and cousin Abbi. Once they got there we hit the party I really wanted to go to… Pikes Place Market. Anytime there is anything on tv that has to do with Seattle, they always show this place. So I’ve always wanted to go there, and I have ALWAYS wanted to catch a fish. Well, my Aunt hooked me up pretty good. She was buying a whole bunch of salmon and asked them if they would allow me to catch a fish. I was pretty stoked to get to do something that I have always wanted to do, and in my best effort possible, I caught the fish triumphantly! :) I left Pikes Place a very happy, and unfortunately, very swollen person. From there we went and had dinner at a restaurant right on the water at the Yacht Club called “Maggie’s Bluffs”. David goes there at least once whenever he is in Seattle for work. I order the BEST Turkey BLTA I have ever had. Seriously, I want to go back SO bad just so I can eat there again. By the time we were done with dinner, I was so swollen we just went back to the hotel so I could put my feet up and we could put Tucker down.

The next day we went to church at the ward that David grew up in. He was SO excited to show Tucker off to everyone. In true Tucker fashion he just clung to me the whole time. He’s not a huge fan of meeting new people. After church we went back to the hotel to change our clothes, and we did a little Easter basket hunt in my parents room. Tucker had so much fun opening the trail of plastic eggs. It was as if each one was a hidden treasure he had found. From there we headed to my Aunt and Uncle’s house where they had more surprises for Tucker. My cousins, Maggie and Abbi, put together an Easter egg hunt for him in the backyard. He had SO much fun with that. Then my Aunt had put together a really cute basket full of goodies for him. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of Ham, Green Beans, Salad, and ofcourse the Salmon that Aunt Debbie had purchased the day before. It was SO good. After our dinner had settled a bit we walked over to the school behind their house and my Uncle flew one of his airplanes. He works for Boeing as an engineer and has about 75 of his own model airplanes that he builds and loves to fly. Ever since I can remember I have always associated airplanes with Uncle Don. Tucker loved watching the dogs chase the plane to the best of their ability. We played a few games after dinner and then headed back to the hotel so we could get Tucker down, and David had to be at work in the morning.

Monday morning David headed into work, and after my parents, Tucker and I enjoyed a nice breakfast we headed back home here to Salem. My parents stayed with Tucker and I until Thursday. We had planned to hang out and do fun things, but I got really sick with a cold. I am SO glad that they were here to help with Tucker, but I was bummed that it turned out to be a lazy week. OH well though, Tucker had a TON of time to hang out with Grandma and Papa, and he loved every minute of it.

The batteries in my camera died so I didn’t get very many pictures of our trip. So here is the best of what I got… (thanks to Aunt Debbie)
