Alright, I have been an EPIC failure with my whole new years resolution to blog more. I blame it on the lack of useful computer. So right now I am blogging from the laptop that has no pictures on it. So, this will be a boring post until I can add the pictures to it. But, for journaling purposes here goes… Let’s hope I can remember it all.
VALENTINES DAY
We decided to combine our Valentines Day date with our no more coumadin Celebration Date! So, on Friday, the 17th, we went to dinner with some friends and had a great time. We had dinner at Outback Steakhouse and then had ice cream at Coldstone. It was so fun to be out with friends and enjoy our time together. On the actual Valentines Day, David went and got Lobster from Safeway, it was on special, and made us a delicious dinner. It was SO romantic… Bailey was rolling around on the floor squealing and Tucker was on the couch watching cartoons. Ok, it may have not been the most romantic dinner, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
NO MORE COUMADIN
On February 10th I went and had scans done on my legs to check the clots. That was followed up with on Tuesday, the 14th… a.k.a. Valentines Day, with a visit to my Hematologist Dr. Strother. I got the Best. News. Ever! NO MORE COUMADIN! The clots in my legs are completely gone, and I am healthy. I still feel the scar tissue in my lungs from the clots there, and Dr. Strother said there is a possiblity that could be around forever. I figure, if that is the only thing I have to deal with from this whole ordeal… I’ll take it! :)
BAILEY’S 6-MONTH CHECK-UP
Well, seeing as February is almost half over, I can hardly believe it. Bailey had her 6-month check-up earlier this month. She was weighing in at 19 lbs. 9 oz. and 27 1/2 inches long. That puts her into the 95% for her age. She is going to be a tall girl. It cracks me up to compare her stats to Tuckers because she is pretty consistently 2-months behind Tucker in growth. But, no matter what, I am just glad she was healthy. Was, being the key word there. This last week poor Tucker came down with an awful cough accompanied by a nasty green runny nose. Not too long after, Bailey got the nasty hacking cough. So I took them both in on Friday and found that Tucker has a sinus infection with an ear infection, and Bailey has an ear infection and a ridiculous amount of chest congestion. So, both of the kids are on antibiotics right now. I am glad I got it taken care of before we leave for California next Saturday.
JANUARY 2012
January was quite the slow month for us. We really started to get into the groove of things. Life started to settle down from everything and the holidays, and we got into a routine. Tucker went to the dentist for the first time. I was worried how that would go because it was going to be to the extreme either really well, or really bad. The whole day leading up to the appointment I kept telling him that we get to go to the Dentist to get our teeth checked. While brushing his teeth before we left I found the GOLDEN phrase… I said, “We need to get the bugs out of your teeth.” It totally stuck with him. It didn’t scare him at all. When we got to the dentist, Tucker was all sorts of excited to go the “Tucker’s Dr.’s House”. It didn’t hurt that our Dentist is also our Bishop at church. So he was someone familiar to Tucker. When we got there I thought that he would just see Dr. Bateman, and he would get to ride on the chair and they would count his teeth. I was really surprised when they had planned to hopefully polish and floss his teeth. He was a little skeptical at first, but never cried or got mad. He was SO good, and I was SO proud of him. He sat very still while she polished his teeth, and definitley was a trooper at allowing the assistant to floss his teeth. In true toddler fashion, his favorite thing to do was go up and down in the chair. :) I can’t say enough how proud of him I was.
DECEMBER 24-25 - CHRISTMAS
We spent Christmas this year with David’s family. We woke up the morning of Christmas Eve and opened the presents from my parents while we were skyping with them. David and I also opened our gifts to each other. David got me some great pots and pans that I have been wanting, and also a membership to the gym that I have wanted even more. :) I treated David to a new sweatshirt and a fun new electronic called GoogleTV. My parents spoiled the kids with toys and of course 49er gear. It wouldn’t be a Christmas from Grandma and Papa Boehrer without something 49er. Tucker LOVED chatting with Grandma and Papa on the TV. We were able to do it on our TV through David’s GoogleTV.
That afternoon we headed to David’s parents house with the kids and WAY to many presents in toe. We enjoyed a nice dinner up there and a fun game of White Elephant. The next morning we had so much fun watching Tucker open his presents. He got the hook up from David and I, as well as from his Grandma and Papa Mize. All in all Tucker had a great Christmas. We went to church that day with David’s parents, then back to their house for a delicious dinner and games.
It was awesome for Bailey’s first Christmas. She got some cute clothes and little dolls. My favorite gift was the jewelry box that I got for her. Inside it was a necklace that I wore as a baby. It was so neat to have something like that to pass down to her. I will be the first to admit that our kids got WAY too much stuff this year and it is my fault. I had some major retail therapy from all that was going on and my kids definitely benefited. It was great though, and it will be memorable because it was Bailey’s first Christmas.
As much as I enjoyed this Christmas I decided that Christmas 2012 will be the David and Jenn Mize Family Christmas! More than just christmas, but Holiday year. I am all sorts of ready to start hosting some of the Holidays. I grew up in a house that always hosted the holiday gatherings and couldn’t wait to grow up and have my own house to do that with. This year is already starting off on a good foot. My parents and my Uncle Don and his family are coming to our house for Easter this year. It is going to be GREAT! Even though my parents are going to be gone on a mission for the holidays this year, I still am hoping to make it down to California for Thanksgiving to spend with Mike and his family and Bryan and his family. Then, I am MOST excited for Christmas this year. I am going to host a Christmas Eve dinner at my house. I plan on inviting any family that wants to come and then friends from church who don’t have family nearby. It is going to be GREAT! The best part will be waking up in our own beds Christmas morning and having our own special Christmas! Hmmmmmm, is it Christmas yet?! :)
DECEMBER 22, THE “PROCEDURE”
On Thursday, December 22nd, I went in for a procedure. After many hours of prayer, discussion and tears David and I decided that it would be best for my health and our family if we didn’t have anymore children. It is not a decision that I thought I would be making at the age of 30, and after having only 2 kids. But, what it came down to was either I can be here for my 2 amazing children that I have now, or I can be selfish and get pregnant again and really take a chance to not be around for any of my children. So David and I decided to go ahead with permanent birth control. I got a procedure done called Adiana that blocks the tubes, and another one called Novasure, which eliminates the lining of my uterus. Sounds pretty fierce huh. It was. I was put out for the whole procedure and after everything I had been through, I’m glad I was. No sense in dealing with that pain. It was a tough decision to make, but the whole experience really strengthened my testimony of the power of prayer. I don’t know how people make large life decisions without seeking the Lord in prayer. Such a great power that is so free to every one of us. :)
