Surprise...

This last weekend David and I went to California for a surprise 40th Anniversary party for my parents. On Sunday, the 20th, was my parents 40th anniversary. So my brothers and I planned a Surprise party for them for Saturday night. It was so much fun and quit a success. We all worked really hard on it and it definitely paid off. The weekend was a lot of fun as a whole.
We landed in Sacramento on Thursday and mostly hung out all day. I went and got my hair highlighted and then went to visit the dentist office that I used to work at. It was fun. Then we had dinner with my parents and the missionaries that night. My Dad made a potato salad and that was the best part of dinner. :) After dinner three of my brothers came over with their families and we all just hung out, it was fun.
Friday David went golfing with my Dad and my brothers Mike, Dave and Bryan. David was in the lead until he apparently choked on the last hole and shot a 7, if I remember correctly. So he came in second to my brother Bryan. It's probably best that Bryan won because they might have had to play another 9 holes otherwise. While the boys were golfing my Mom and I went shopping and had a good time. We alos met up with my cousin Anna for lunch at La Bou. Can I just tell you how much I LOVE La Bou. Mmmmmm, it was delicious. That evening we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays with my parents and 3 of my brothers and their wives, and then we got dessert at a yogurt place called spoons. It was all really good. David and I were able to stop and see my friend Amber and her family for a few minutes, and that was nice. Then, later that evening we went to Brad and Katie's house and played cards until like 2:00 in the morning. It was crazy late for us, but so much fun.
Saturday was the big day. David and my Dad went shopping for a shirt for David to wear in the family pictures and Mom and I just took naps. My brother Dan and his family came over and that was a lot of fun. Around 4:00 the rest of the family came over and we had family pictures taken. That was an adventure in and of itself, but it turned out great. We left for the party around 6:45. We told my parents that we are going to the church for a Young Womens thing for my niece. So it was perfect when we pulled up and there were lots of cars there. My parents were TOTALLY surprised, it was great. The look on my Dad's face was classic. It took him a few minutes for it all to register. But it was a great evening.
Sunday we all went to Sacramento at my parents ward. My parents loved having their whole family there. I think that is what really made their weekend. Later that evening Bryan and Mike and their families came over for dinner, and then around 7:45 my parents took David and I to the airport. It was a great weekend and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Now that we are home, I am officially a stay at home wife. And, I'm not going to lie, I love not having to work, but I have never felt so useless in my life. The fact that I am not contributing to society in any other way than just existing is hard for me. I have always worked so this is all new to me. Oh well. Soon enough David will be graduated and we will be busy adjusting to a new way of life again. :)
